Words, textures, exploration. These three things are the main influences in my artwork. Words inspire strong visual associations that I express through collaging, all the while, creating unique textures and patterns in both cut paper and digital mediums. Inspiration for my artwork is also generated from my background. I was born in the south, raised and educated in Montana, the Big Sky Country, and am now residing in the Bay Area, California. I received my B.S. in textiles and apparel design while experimenting in other art forms; ceramics, metalsmithing, photography, woodworking, and oil painting. Years later, with a second degree in graphic design with an emphasis in web publishing, I have a variety of creative and technical skills that I draw on to develop concepts and generate idea flow. My design background allows me the ability to visualize, problem solve and exercise quality craftsmanship while bringing ideas to life. My portfolio embraces exploration and discovery by making order out of chaos! Old scraps don?t go to waste. Instead, they?re rearranged, folded, glued, cut, painted, and scanned. In the end, the pieces are in another image telling a new story.
