Watercolor with Digital Effects
For IMT's challenge I painted a monochromatic watercolor and scanned it. Once digital I opened the image in Photoshop and added the watercolor filter to see the effects. I like the textures the filter created!
Studio Friday challenge: "Favorite item in your studio/craft space - why do you love it and how does it inspire you (art or journal and photo)?"
Watercolor Original
I decided to dedicate Studio Friday's challenge to my corner punch. Since I'm in the mood for fall, I created this Halloween card to show the corner punch in action.
The corner punch has been my best friend as of late since I've been in production mode with baby announcements. I rounded all the corners on 80 announcements and their components to give them a softer finished look. The baby announcement will be posted at a later date.
My only gripe I have for my Corner Punch Marvy is the button! I wish it had a soft grip instead of hard ridges...it's murder on your thumb if you cut too many corners at one time.

I can hear doors creaking and see the art patron ghosts cutting in line to buy your wonderful Halloween cards! The fantastic haunted house reminds me of one in Occidental/Bodega Bay area in CA!
Thanks to you and your great explanation; I have added to my art supply list...'buy a corner punch marvy!'
Will be back to see more! Thanks.
I love your monochromatic watercolor...it's the only piece I've seen in just blacks, grays, and white! Thank you for sharing.
This is a lot of fun! I like how you did the watercolor and then added the effects.
fresh eyes...monochrome choice was inspired!
Love this! Thanks for inspiring me to play some more with Photoshop filters - they really are so much fun.
Love the contrasts in this - and the orange adds just the right touch!! I think corner punches are great too, they give cards & invitations such a nice custom look :)
a corner punch! the wonders of the modern world!
i really really like the illustration below titled 'sunblock'. i can see why it was chosen. delightful.
hmm, could you put a strip of that sticker foam (found with kid's art supplies) on your corner punch button to give it a little cushion for your thumb?
spooky gothic image! Perfect for Hallowe'en
Navylane, thanks for the suggestion! A perfect idea to save my thumb from permanent impressions.
Cheers!
